Project p-DRP-0057 – Status Update

Seen enough sneak peak of our p-DRP-0057 Windows program from our Twitter account? Maybe it is time for us to give a public introduction.

p-DRP-0057 is a telemetry and monitoring system for remote control model, a scaled down derivative embedded software development from our core business project on telemetry. (Hey, there is always time for play!!!) The system features a micro-controller driven telemetry and sensing module installed on the model, the module relays data captured (includes RC signal to servos and various on-board sensors.) to a Windows console running Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

JR G5000T Extreme Tail Lock Gyro Tear Down

During spring cleaning last year, we found the JR G5000T Extreme Tail Lock Gyro from one of our helicopters quitted working. Since this is the only as well as the last JR brand gyroscope, we did not bother troubleshooting and replace it with a Futaba unit. Time went on and the G5000T sitting in our spare parts box marked “DEAD” until today.

Since December of 2010, it has been more than a year since Quest Corporation Japan acquired the Caliber line of RC helicopters from Kyosho. Binary Taskforce recently researched their business, product lines and recent activities. Presenting our findings in this blog, worldwide Caliber owners will get to know about this company and continue the support of this amazing model.

Still flying Nitro? Time to Re-build your starter

Extreme Makeover of the Dynatron starter

We have this starter for about 8+ years, it is a great product and the motor is running very strong. Originally converted it to NiCd cordless (15.6V) system but during years of usage, the NiCd have passed their life span and no longer take/hold charge well. Starting helicopter has becoming more and more a frustration process. Emmm… Time for a new design.

Here is the current setup.

  • Sullivan Dynatron S603 Super Power Starter
  • Custom plexiglass bracket battery holder
  • Multiple no-name NiCd batteries are from the nineties ( 2 x 7.2 in parallel) + (2 x 8.4 in parallel) in serial

Worth mentioning was the plexiglass mount , loved the design and fabrication. The K&S rubber battery holder mount underneath it securely. Anyhow, it is now retired. Did I mention there were a couple of times the switch blade arc welded itself together?

Google SketchUp is 3D modeling tool, the software is free for anyone to use and is available for download directly from Google website. The current version is 8.0 and is compatible with Windows XP and above also Mac OS X (10.5 and above).
