Title: Schaum’s outline of Machine Design
Author: Alfred Hall, A. Holowenko and H. Laughlin
Category: Science and Engineering
Saw this book in the Science and Engineering section, picked it up to flip a few pages and right away an hour is gone. We like the book because it touches on a fairly wide scope of subjects, it provides a great introduction of machine and mechanical design to newbies.
For those who interested in metal working, building robotics and remote control (RC) model as a hobby, getting in depth knowledge on subjects like fastening, metal fitting and tolerances, vibrations and sizing of bearings are crucial to success.
As reviewed by customers from Amazon.com, some areas of this book are out of date. Well for less than CAD$25, this book gives you great introduction, concepts and know hows on machine design theory and calculations. We think it is a good buy.
You should always refer to manufacturer data sheet for the specifications anyways.
The math and illustration are easy to follow. Good read.
